As a therapist, I believe it is my job is to help clients understand and create meaning of the problems they are experiencing and uncover how these problems are affecting their lives. Together we will learn how to make the changes that you need to in order to live a happier and more fulfilling life.
I hold a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Massachusetts-Boston. I approach therapy through a Narrative lens, where the client is the expert on his or her life. I also use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as well as Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to treat issues such as anxiety and depression.
Some of the issues that I treat are anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief and loss, stress, identity issues, and life transitions.
In addition to treating individuals, I work with couples on issues relating to infidelity, loss of intimacy, and provide separation and divorce counseling. I am certififed in IMAGO couples' therapy and also use the Gottman method when working with couples. I have also worked with many couples that are part of the LGBTQ community.
On a personal note, I am originally from the Washington D.C. area. I have a wonderful husband and two amazing children.
Creating and nurturing a strong therapist-client relationship is the biggest indicator of success in therapy. I hope that we are able to build this important relationship together!
